This is a unique album in Morgan's recorded legacy. It is more open and spacy than the trumpeter's usual output because of the presence of Wayne Shrter on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, and Ron Carter on bass plus Bobby Hutcherson on vibes and the restrained yet driving drums of Billy Higgins. A different Lee Morgan and a great addition to his prolific output.
