On Saturday August 21st CiTR will be broadcasting the Red Jam Slam live from the W2 Storyeum. Red Jam Slam is a day of panel discussion and live music performances organized by Vancouver community radio stations. CiTR will be broadcasting both panel discussions live.

Featuring Chief Bobby Joseph and Samaya Jardey from the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, Commissioner Maria Wilson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and David Patterson, a lawyer for the residential school agreement.

On Sunday August 15th a team of volunteers from CiTR 101.9 were broadcasting live from Strathcona Park for Justice Rocks. Justice Rocks is an annual music and social justice festival organized by the Pivot Legal Society.

CiTR 101.9 FM is proud to support the Enchanted Evenings Concert Series at the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Vancouver. Concerts are every Friday beginning on July 9th and continuing until Friday, September 3rd in Vancouver’s Ming-dynasty era garden. The series features a diverse array of music from all corners of the world. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy tasty food paired specifically with the evening’s music.

On Thursday, August 12th Tegan from Tegan and Sara was interviewed on Are You Aware: Music That Has Something To Say 6-7:30pm. Tegan talks about the last 12 years of Tegan and Sara, their latest tour and what social justice casues are close to her heart. We are also excited to hear her Are You Aware Mix Tape. Are You Aware Mixed Tapes – we ask socially conscious artists to choose three songs that inspire them to be involved in positive change and choose one of their songs that reflect their sentiments around positive change.
