Unceded Airwaves Episode November 10, 2022

Indigenizing

7:00pm - 8:00pm

Unceded Airwaves is hosted by the Indigenous Collective at CiTR. As a weekly radio show, we aim to showcase the diversity and brilliance of Indigenous cultures while highlighting influential Indigenous kin. We recognize that media has often been used as a tool to subordinate or appropriate Indigenous voices and we are committed to subverting these dynamics. The team is comprised of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who are passionate about story-telling, alternative media, and Indigenous affairs. We broadcast from the traditional, ancestral, current, and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Wautuh Peoples.
On this week's episode, Kleo (they/them) is joined by Breanna Deis (She/her) to discuss her presence as an Indigenous Artist, interacting on social media, and her Indigenized Dolls. Breanna Deis was mentioned in the previous episode, #Beadwork, by the guest as an inspiration and resource for their own learning.
The music featured in this episode includes a track by the Snotty Nose Rez Kids often used by Breanna in her TikTok videos to showcase her Boujee earrings, as well as the latest track from The Trade Offs. The Trade Offs are releasing their second album on November 4 2022 via the Iqaluit label Aakuluk Music.
