Unceded Airwaves Episode October 27, 2022

#Beadwork

7:00pm - 8:00pm

Unceded Airwaves is hosted by the Indigenous Collective at CiTR. As a weekly radio show, we aim to showcase the diversity and brilliance of Indigenous cultures while highlighting influential Indigenous kin. We recognize that media has often been used as a tool to subordinate or appropriate Indigenous voices and we are committed to subverting these dynamics. The team is comprised of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who are passionate about story-telling, alternative media, and Indigenous affairs. We broadcast from the traditional, ancestral, current, and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Wautuh Peoples.
This episode discusses Indigenous beadwork, wellness, social media, and connecting with culture. In this episode, Kleo Skavinski (they/them) is joined by Faith Vaughan-Trotchie (she/her), an Indigenous student of Psychology and textile artist. The music for this episode comes from the Halluci Nation (Formerly A Tribe Called Red).
Artists Mention in episode: Breanna Deis (Dene), Copper Canoe Woman (Vina Brown) (Haí?zaqv, Nuu-chah-nulth), Mackenzie Brown (Cree)
