Hello Hello Hello!
February 5th is a special day, if youve been living under a concretion, its the birthday of Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark. And in celebration of her 43rd birthday, I decided to play my favorite punk bands from Denmark. This block featured hits by Mighty Midgets (Aalborg), Stars Burn Stripes (Copenhagen), Snipers (Copenhagen), Glow Kit (Aarhus), The 20 Belows (Copenhagen).
Next block features new songs by The Smith Street Band (Melbourne, Australia), Turnstile (Baltimore, OH, USA), The Sidekicks (Northeastern, OH, USA), Title Fight (Kingston, PA, USA).
And the final block featured songs by Calgarian punk bands from late 70s / early 80s. The reason I decided to focus on that area and that era was because that morning, before the show, I interviewed Bruce McCulloch (The Kids in the Hall, Young Drunk Punk) and we discussed punk scene in Calgary at that time. While getting ready for this interview, I discovered an awesome web-site The Calgary Cassette Preservation Society which helped me prepare for that interview and discover those awesome bands. And in this block I played tracks by The Cutz, Hot Nasties, Sturgeons, The Verdix, Plan Nine, Knucklehead.
