XHM #119 - "I can smell the literature from a distant sun" (2012 June 11)

7:30am - 9:02am

In honour of the late author Ray Bradbury (1920-2012), this week's profile is on the score from the 1966 film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. Also, some Venusian songs in honour of that planet's recent transit across the sun. The transit of Venus theme probably would've worked better last week in advance of that lifetime event but since John Philip Sousa recorded his march a year after the fact, well I can be late too.

For a brief moment, I thought I had very little Ray Bradbury material at my disposal; 451 degrees later, I remembered Bernard Herrmann, who was profiled back in episode 76 of XHM (check 2011 August). Add in some Youtubery for additional things (like his old HBO show, which I vaguely recall though I didn't have cable out in the country) and this weird show crystallized.
