Lilah Sturges (she/her) is the acclaimed writer of numerous comics, including the PRISM award-winning Lumberjanes: The Infernal Compass, The Magicians and the upcoming Simon and Shuster / Legendary Comics’ June 18th release, The Science of Ghosts featuring the crime-solving transgender parapsychologist, Joy Ravenna.

Sturges has written many other titles from famed comic powerhouses DC Comics, Marvel, IDW and others, and is best known for co-writing Eisner-award-nominated Jack of Fables with Bill Willingham. She is also the Author of the DUNE Official Movie Graphic Novel.

In 2019, Sturges was featured in The Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin for #TransPizza, where she utilized her Twitter platform to donate over $80,000 in free food directly to trans individuals all across the Twitterverse. MONICA F. HELMS (she/her) is an American Navy veteran, transgender activist, and author. She is the founder of the Transgender American Veterans Association and is best known as the creator of the first (and best known) transgender flag which she created in 1999.

While serving on submarines in the Navy from 1970 to 1978, Monica was the ship’s newspaper Editor and has written over 20 short stories, six published.

She has written four science fictions books, a book about submarines and submariners, a collection of short stories and her most recent novel is the autobiography MORE THAN JUST A FLAG. All are self-published and available on Amazon.com.

Monica has a regular column in Transgender Tapestry magazine and is the Founder and President of the Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA).

Monica, and other 2SLGBTQIA+ leaders are traveling across Canada as “The Visibility Tour” till the end of April sharing culture, community, performance and history for free, and Monica will be coming to Vancouver on Saturday, April 27th at The Junction on Davie Street to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the transgender pride flag.
