'Am I Overreacting?': Understanding and Combating Microaggressions

10:00am - 11:00am

For this episode of Intersections, enjoy listening to the audio from the panel discussion that CiTR's Gender Empowerment Collective held on March 31. The purpose of the panel is to recognize and discuss possible ways to address microaggressions in the workplace, on campus, in academia, among other spaces. What exactly are microaggressions, and how do they affect people belonging to equity-seeking communities based on race, class, gender, sex, religion etc. What are some examples of covert racism, and how does it impact marginalized people in their personal and professional lives? What are some tangible solutions for both those who experience microaggression and those who witness/perpetuate them? As well, touch upon the historical context of microaggressions and why they continue to be prevalent.
