Along with the recent Mercury and Polaris Prize winners, there's news of Wawa Ontario, inventor Don Buchla (1937-2016) and the comic actor Gene Wilder (1933-2016). For the latter, we profile music from two of the films he appeared in: 1971's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and 1974's Young Frankenstein. gak also hopes for fencing carnage but is sorely disappointed (but not sore).
