The Chess Story is a lavishly produced, limited edition (only 1,000 made) 15 CD box set that ranks easily among the most desirable collections ever manufactured. The Chicago label, established by Polish immigrant brothers Phil and Leonard Chess, brought the blues to many people for the first time. This show covers the years 1961 and 1962. It is arguably the high point of Chess artistry, and features among others the full flowering of the early Etta James.
