Album Club Episode April 28, 2025
Episode 1 - New York Dolls, Craig Finn, GRDN COLLECTIVE
11:00am - 11:58am
We're kicking things off with a bang on the first episode of Album Club as we dive back in time to 1973 and the beginnings of punk, courtesy of the New York Dolls and their eponymous debut. The New York band blended rock and roll, glam, androgyny, and sometimes outrage for the sake of outrage, into one of the earliest precursors to punk.
For our new album we join American singer-songwriter Craig Finn on his sixth record, Always Been. It's another collection of intimate stories of urban social decay guaranteed to make you just a little sad and hopefully a little hopeful too.
And closing our main trio of albums is our Canadian entry, GRDN COLLECTIVE's The Flowers Are Blooming in Antarctica. The Vancouver band combine samples and electronic instrumentation into invigorating and propulsive dance tunes that close out the show on a suitably upbeat note.
