Access Day 2025 Episode May 15, 2025
What's in the Hat? interview with Kristina Shelden
4:18pm - 4:57pm
As part of CiTR & Discorder's 2025 Global Access Awareness Day programming, the team at What's in the Hat? interviews local singer-songwriter Kristina Shelden.
Kristina Shelden is a Vancouver based singer, songwriter and performer. Her voice smoulders in jazzy, soulful, and indie folk genres. Kristina started performing at an early age in choirs, musicals, and jazz bands.
After putting herself through a year of basic musicianship in college, however, she suffered a c4/c5 spinal cord injury that left her with debilitating nerve damage and threatened to end her advancing musical ambitions. But through hard work and determination, and despite her limitations, she is again performing at venues throughout the city, recording music.
Inspired by her love of music and collaborating with other musicians, she has joined the board of directors for the Vancouver Adapted Music Society.
