The culture of stand-up comedy is one that conjures images of late nights in dark cellars, with (mostly) men getting up one after another, testing out just how much they can get away with on stage. But, what if it didn’t have to be that way?

Laughs in Queer is an audio program exploring the quiet but quickly growing revolution in the stand-up scene of Vancouver, BC, where a collective of new open-mics are not including marginalized voices, but building around them at the core. Through live comedy, interviews, and archival recording, host Kay documents a new movement in comedy and the people at the centre making it happen.
