PALE NORTH was formed in 2016 by high school best friends Brie Anna Rose and Amit Basran,
after years of jamming informally, playing Green Day covers, and building their musical chemistry.
After being impressed by Slade Barret Brown’s bass skills in a previous band, Brie and Amit asked
them to join, and the trio have been a fixture of Vancouver's indie scene ever since.
Brie (she/her) is a drummer, songwriter, and occasional vocalist for Pale North. For the past
decade, she has been a key creative force in the band, co-writing alongside Amit and holding
down the drums, with Slade on bass. The band draws inspiration from many different genres,
including emo, shoegaze, and indie. They describe themselves primarily as “dreampunk,”
combining lo-fi-style production on record with energetic live performances.
Pale North have played alongside local artists including Kylie V, Cherry Pick, and Hope Slide, as
well as international talent Weatherday, Floral Tattoo, and Party Nails. Beyond Pale North, Brie
released solo singles under the name Rose Hops Mice in 2018, performed with Kitty Prozac in
2019, and played with Transistor Riot between 2021 and 2023.
The band has a new album NEW NOSTALGIA coming out on April 25th 2025, and mark your
calendars for their next show date on April 19th, at the Fox Cabaret in Vancouver. Find the band
