New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy
Shane Aspegren – Emblems Of Transmuting Heat
A familiar future is what I get from this album. Excellent retro sounds bouncing across new melodies. I love the feel of each piece, as the sounds dip in and out of slow conversations. A brilliant feel stretches through every track on this one. An excellent headphone listen for your day. Unobtrusive and yet very captivating. This is a winner.
400 Lonely Things – Subdivisions
The heavy emotion that immediately comes off of a 400 Lonely Things album is powerful. I sink into each of Craig Varian’s creations with excitement and a slight apprehension. His ability to shift your thoughts mid piece is masterful. Sliding back and forth between reality and a fantasy world is a talent that can never be understated, and Craig does this with ease. Trapped between BOC and a world I’ve never been to sums this brilliant collection up perfectly. Another future classic, Craig! Seriously!
