New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy

Various Artists – Cut Up. Deconstructing W.S. Burroughs

The themed releases from Unexplained Sounds Group are something I always look forward to hearing. This time, they’ve chosen William S. Burroughs as their subject, and what a great subject to choose. If you’ve never read his work, do it right now. Start with Naked Lunch, and just keep going. This collection of songs that draw influence from this historical marvel are a brilliant representation of his genius. Some of my favourite acts are on this album, (400 Lonely Things, Rapoon, and Dead Voices On Air – just to name a few). Each piece shines in its own right, and every track is different from the previous. This is a genius collection of excellent music from a label that never disappoints.
