FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CiTR 101.9 FM appeals to listeners to raise $40,000 to make milestones!

Vancouver, BC — On Thursday, February 28th at 4:00 PM, independent radio broadcaster CiTR 101.9FM will launch its annual Fundrive with an aim to raise $40,000 in donations. The theme for this year is Ruby Jubilee, chosen to celebrate the station’s 80th year serving the community. The events slogan, Making Milestones represents how far the station has come, and the goals still left to achieve in order to propel the station in today’s media landscape.

Fundrive proceeds go directly towards the research and development needed to create future milestones. They’ll go towards operating expenses, equipment purchases, studio upgrades, new programs and support for community projects and events. It will be used for in-house training, which means more media producers, more skill development, and more opportunities to gain experience in some of the fastest growing media industries. It will also be used towards the research needed to increase its signal and expand digital platforms in order to further amplify the underrepresented voices that the station serves.

Until midnight on March 7th, CiTR DJs will be asking listeners to call in and donate at 604-822-8648 (UBC-UNIT) or transfer funds digitally via citr.ca/donate. Donors will receive Fundrive swag designed by local artists, including patches, mixtapes, socks and bags as well as show specific prizes.

Once the phones have stopped ringing, the Fundrive Finale party will commence on Friday, March 8th, at Red Gate Arts Society (1965 Main St). This 19+ event will host an exciting lineup of local bands, a silent auction and sets by the Dame DJ’s. Tickets are $10 online and $12 at the door.
