On today's episode I get into the history behind the genre, Shoegaze. Taking inspiration from post-punk 80s bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Shoegaze took off in the alternative scene in the early 90s, in the UK and Ireland. I chose some classic, first wave Shoegaze songs for the first portion of this episode, to situate ourselves with the vibez; and then give you some examples of contemporary Canadian Shoegaze artists for this SOCAN episode (an episode where we emphasize Canadian music!).
