Our First Saturday of the Month Show is a deep-dive retrospective of some label, artist or other aspect of the history of blues music. This time out, we take a second listen to some goodies from a small label run by Fred Litwin in Toronto from 2001 to 2010. Over 50 CDs were released, including outstanding artists like Watermelon Slim, Janiva Magness, The Twisters, Kevin Breit, JW Jones and Carlos Del Junco. NorthernBlues specialized in what Fred liked to call “interesting original music”.
