From February 1st-8th, independent radio broadcaster CiTR 101.9FM & Discorder Magazine will appeal to listeners and readers to say “YES” to CiTR with the aim of raising $20,000 in donations from listeners and readers across the Lower Mainland.

Celebrating 86 years of existence, CiTR has relied on the same transmitter and antenna since the 1970s, and it’s time for an upgrade! This year’s funding campaign will support the completion of a major two-year project to replace this aged hardware and dramatically improve the quality and reach of CiTR’s signal.

As the station prepares to retire this gear, it’s important to reflect on some of the amazing work that it so faithfully broadcasted over its decades of service. The station is currently home to over 90 unique radio programs, many of whom have been broadcasting for multiple decades, including Saturday Edge (Folk/Roots, 42 years), Crimes & Treasons (Hip-Hop, 22 years), Queer FM (Eclectic, 30 years), Powerchord (Metal, 37 years), The Jazz Show (Jazz, 43 years), Breakfast with the Browns (Eclectic, 39 years), and of course, Nardwuar the Human Serviette (Nardwuar, 37 years).

From February 1-8, CiTR hosts, staff and volunteers will be taking to the airwaves and asking listeners to head to donatetoCITR.ca to show their support.

The station will be wrapping things up with a live-remote broadcast Fundrive Finale Event at Red Gate Arts Society on Saturday, February 10th with performances by NatlakJanky Bungag, and Bill Can and a silent auction with prizes donated from CiTR’s amazing sponsoring partners. Join the party in-person or tune in from 9PM-Midnight on 101.9FM or citr.ca.

Doors at 8pm, tickets are $15 or pay-what-you-can. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Thank you for supporting CiTR & Discorder Magazine!
