In Season 3 Episode 2- we talk about cultural appropriation! We were joined by Melissa Morrison to talk about her special jean jacket project for her Indigenous geographies class and some exciting projects that she has coming up. Then Josh Kioke, Nikita Day, Autumn Schnell, and Madeson Singh discuss cultural appropriation in an every day context, responsibility pedagogies, and the Make It Awkward event at the University of Alberta after dealing with a racist pumpkin and white supremacist posters. We unpack a lot about our responsibility as indigenous peoples, express issues with appropriation, and discuss how we are not immune to appropriating either.
