Unceded Airwaves Episode November 9, 2016

S2E5 - National Aboriginal Veterans Day, #NoDAPL and US Election 2016

12:59pm - 2:05pm

In Season 2 Episode 5, we hear two special topic segments. The first is on National Aboriginal Veterans Day, held on November 8th to commemorate war veterans. Lisa Girbav speaks to Robert Nahanee of the Squamish Nation about his experience as a First Nations war veteran. Josh Gabert-Doyon leads an interview segment with Leena Minifie on the No Dakota Access Pipeline. The Indigenous Collective comprised of Mario Parent, Nikita Day and Mat Andreatta begin the conversation on the US Presidential Election 2016 by reading election tweets. The collective also updates the weekly #UncededEvents listing!

We hear music from David Morin in our intro, with Skookum Sound System and Sam Cooke to round out the show.

Unceded Airwaves is put together every week by UBC's Indigenous Radio Collective, and we are committed to centering the voices of Native people and offering alternative narratives that empower Native people and their stories.
