Welcome back everyone - Hope the week is treating you well. The holidays are coming up, and in the spirit of the winter nights and city / home lights, this mix cassette is bright, warm, and heavy with feeling (good feelings). Here, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the very strong, in fact top notch, work of pop artists, or those who are experimenting with power pop this year. I truly believe this was the strongest genre of 2017. We start with ambient brilliance from High Plains, which sets the tone for Lorde to powerfully address love, The Flaming Lips to do the same, and Tennis to put it back into perspective; next we bring in Chromatics for their golden synths, brand new Miguel with the incredible metal guitar based R&B, Zara Larsson with the incredible trap pop, Symmetry with the transition that stuns, Missy Elliott with the rap virtuoso, and N.E.R.D. feat. Rhianna with what is probably the beat (and verse?) of the year; we close with a strong track from Metric, hypnotic vocals from Lana Del Rey; and of course the bonus gem - Please enjoy~~
