Jules of Crimes and Treasons hosts a Dj & Beatmaking class

We are offering a way for people to learn how to dj and use mixing equipment, so people can share music and throw events. Our workshops and studio access is free for students and CiTR members, there is no experience  necessary and equipment is provided.   Workshops are from 5 to 8 pm  on Tuesdays in the CITR studios  and are divided into two main formats:

Intro to Djing : Tuesdays 5- 6:00 pm

Learn to mix records and MP3s!    We’ll teach you how to beat-match songs and introduce you to different options for mixing music.

Making beats and electrnoic music  & guest workshops  : Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm

Want to learn how to make your own tracks?  Have a question about how to get a sample sound a certain way?  We’ll look at this as well as inviting local artist to talk about how they’ve learnt to mix, create and play their tunes!

hi, do you hold DJ training lessons on the UBC campus?

  • Martin Stillman says:

I’m aware you’re overflowing with signups but I would be so thrilled to still do this. I hope you open up another set of training days!

    Peace,
    Martin

  • James K says:

    Hi,

I m just wondering how do I sign up? Did you guys close registration cuz it’s overflowing?

Let me know, or just sign me up somehow.

    Thanks.

  • the eds says:

Hey James, we will tell everyone how to register at the info session this friday at 2pm or 4pm in room 205 of the SUB

  • the eds says:

Yes, the beginner sessions will be on campus

  • Keegan says:

Hey, when are sign-ups for the November classes going out? I thought I’d have heard about it by now. I’ve got a note saying tomorrow in my planner but I don’t remember where that came from.

  • ascus pap says:

Hello there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

  • Lily says:

Are you guys going to have additional sessions in 2nd term?

  • bgrunau says:

We use wordpress. Not sure what other options are!

  • Sarah says:

Are these the same as the training sessions that enable you to do a guest show on the radio?

  • Zoe Pelad says:

Hey, Sarah! DJing 101.9 is free and open for all UBC students and CiTR members. Our programmer training which allows you to get on air is for members only: UBC students can be members for a year for only $10, $30 for community members and you get training and so much more. Email DJ Oker – djtraining@citr.ca for more on DJing 101.9 and email volunteer@citr.ca for more info on becoming a CiTR member. ~ Zoe

  • Producer says:

I know you said UBC students are eligable…but what about Alumni?

  • bgrunau says:

Sure thing – membership at CiTR costs $35, and gets you into our DJ program and the rest of the perks of being a member of the station.

  • I am really interested in this. If Alumni is considered I know my brother will be in.

  • joanne says:

Will the course be available in term 2? i want to join but i guess it’s way too late to join the term 1 program now.

  • Michal says:
