FAQ

Question:

How do I get my own show?

Answer:
  1. Become a member ($20 for students, $35 for community members)
  2. Take the tour
  3. Sign up for our three, free, one-hour training workshops
  4. Cut us a rockin’ demo!

Question:

How do we get you to play our stuff?
(’cause we’re like, in a band and we’re really cool and can you mention our show and have you got our CD yet and why aren’t you playing us already?)

Answer:

Check out this article by Helen Spitzer in collaboration with our Music Director.

We get music from all over the world, and while we love playing new music, what goes on-air is entirely up to our individual DJs. If you’ve dropped off a CD, talked to our Music Director, and emailed a genre-friendly DJ, you’re just going to have to become more awesome. Calling every day is not going to get you on the air. If practice isn’t working, write better songs!

Question:

How do I listen to CiTR in Alberta/Albania/the jungle?

Answer:

Good news! We’re available wherever there is internet! Go to our listen page to stream CiTR anywhere in the world (and out of it), regardless of radio reception. Or check out our podcasts–download your favorite show and listen to it on your iPod whenever you like!

Question:

Two words: “advertise” and “18-to-24 year-old sweet, sweet disposable income”?

Answer:

We’re non-profit, so we’re pretty selective about ads and sponsorship agreements. It’s best if you’re small, local, ethical, and appeal to the listeners of our shows. Good idea? Local indie record store. Bad idea? Soft-drink-and-mobile-phone-producing national-chain.

If you think you’d be a good fit for CiTR, call our station manager at (604) 822-2487. We offer:

  • competitive rates
  • in-house ad creation
  • targeted air-time (e.g. you advertise a dance music concert, we play your ad during a dance music show)

Question:

How do we get reduced ad rates? (We’re broke)

Answer:

We can do better: free. If your ad provides value for our listeners we call it a Public Service Announcement and charge you nothing.

Question:

How do I… I dunno… something else?

Answer:

Just ask! Try our contact page, and we will get back to you ASAP.
