Heroes of Shindig: Part II

Welcome back to our second and final instalment of Heroes of Shindig. Have your toes finally thawed in your rain-soaked socks? Have your resolutions already been set and subsequently shattered? Are you ready to learn about a new crop of great local talent? Since we last left off, 12 bands have taken to the Shindig stage and four of them have moved on to the coveted semi-finals. So gather ’round your respective screens and adjust your brightness — the winner’s circle just got bigger.

Winner of Night 6: Poles

Aside from Shindig, what has been your biggest performance to date?

Other than Music Waste last year, we tend to have our biggest turnouts when we’re playing out of town. Perhaps Vernon and Penticton are just deprived of entertainment.

You’re playing your Vancouver dream gig. What local band are you sharing the bill with, and at what venue?

“I want to play with The Courtneys! They’re my heroes. Once I tried to talk to them at a show but I was too shy.” (Scott)

Where do you go to beat the post-jam munchies?

We have horrible diets, except Matt who we imagine to be a good cook.

“I just don’t ever eat.” (Cam) “I basically live in the International Village Mall food court.” (Scott)

Someone forgot to put out the spliff and your record collection is on fire. What’s the one piece of wax you save?

“I would probably incinerate trying to gather my Accept, Janis Joplin, Pearl, and Metal Heart collections.” (Cam)

When you’re not busy writing hits, what does the band do for fun?

“Personally I try to avoid anything fun.” (Scott)

What can people do to hear more Poles?

We have a seven-inch from a few years back on our Bandcamp. More music to come soon, I promise!
