Indigenous Brilliance Call For Readers!

Author

CiTR is happy to support and work with Jessica Johns, one of the co-creators of the Indigenous Brilliance reading series! Here is what Jessica has to say:

The Indigenous Brilliance reading series, a partnership between Room Magazine and Massy Books and hosted by myself and Jonina Kirton, is a series dedicated to featuring Indigenous women, Two Spirit and queer writers/performers. We want to show the diversity of our communities, so we seek writers of different ages, genders, abilities, and orientations.

We are now accepting applications for all interested artists who would like to participate in our 2018 series. We have three more events this year: May 25th, August 24th, and November 23rd.

Our next event on May 25th will feature Janet Rogers, an amazing Mohawk/Tuscarora writer who is currently the Joy Kowgawa Writer in Residence in Vancouver. If you are an Indigenous woman/2SQ writer and want an opportunity to read next to this amazing artist, contact me at jessicajohns@roommagazine.com 🙂

Please help us spread the word! We’d like to be as far reaching as possible, and make these upcoming events as wildly successful as our first reading at Growing Room Festival was!

Please consider applying! We would love to hear your voices!
