June is Jazz Festival Month in Vancouver and the emphasis is on live music. The June Jazz Features will be a bit different than usual because of this and The Jazz Show Jazz Features (lasting for about 1 hour to 1 hour and 1/2) will present from concerts and clubs a series of live Jazz performances from all eras. Artists such as Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Jazz at the Philharmonic All-Stars, Wes Montgomery, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Johnny Griffin and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers to name but a few will be presented randomly on June 5, June 19 and June 26.
June 12 will be a very special Jazz Festival Edition of The Jazz Show where host Gavin Walker turns the entire show over to Jazz Festival Media Director and Jazz Festival Founder, John Orysik. Gavin and his good friend John will discuss this year’s Festival and John will pick the music to be played. This will be on for the full 3 hour show.
