Author

How many women and femme-identifying individuals have been harassed while working or discriminated against in their field simply because of their gender and/or sexuality?

Sad China and Vancouver Art and Leisure Present: Objets d’Arc, a femme-empowering evening of art and music on October 13th at VAL.

The event includes work by artists from Vancouver and Toronto, including photographer Zhamak Fullad, multidisciplinary art collective ACE (Kaizen Orb), multidisciplinary artist Miki Aurora, painter and henna artist Samia Sun, VAL’s resident mixed media and tattoo artist Liz Kim, visual and tattoo artist Nina Chwelos, and emerging artists Kyla James, Simone Sylvan, and DJ Rachel Fay.

Sad China will perform her new song “Ocean Girl” off the eponymous Sad China EP. ACE is exhibiting their non-binary live art/music performance “The Village Ram” for the first time. Miki Aurora is showing her short art film “The Prophecy” to promote trans rights and dissolve the disillusions of the heteronormative patriarchy.

Objets d’Arc is $5 at the door, and 19+.
