May 5th and 6th: Colin Stetson, Sarah Neufeld and Gregory Rogove at Western Front!

Author

Saturday, May 5 or Sunday, May 6 head down to the Western Front(303 East 8th Ave.) for a wonderful evening of performances by Colin Stetson, Sarah Neufeld, Gregory Rogove.

Bass saxophonist Colin Stetson’s Constellation release, New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges, was a critical hit of 2011 and shortlisted for a Polaris Music Prize. Stetson’s unique voice fuses the extended sonic spaces of free-improvising saxophonists such as Evan Parker with driving rhythm and a postmodern, post-rock sensibility. Stetson is joined by violinist Sarah Neufeld and composer Gregory Rogove in a programme of three solo sets. Sarah Neufeld, best known as a member of Canadian indie-rockers Arcade Fire and Bell Orchestre, performs an intimate set of acoustic violin. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Gregory Rogove performs minimalist piano music from his Knitting Factory release, PIANA.
