VanMusic.ca and CiTR 101.9 presents YOUth in Nature: a Benefit for All. January 26, YOUth in Nature is a fundraiser for the Galiano Conservancy Association Learning Center, the latest and greatest project of the Galiano Conservancy Association. This magnificent roots show kicks off at 7pm on January 26th at the Waldorf Hotel, featuring award-winning local folk performers: contemporary vocalist and Galiano native T. Nile, gifted singer-songwriter Adrian Glynn, west coast songstress Marley Daemon, poetic activists Illiteratty and the mysterious Chilean-French psychnoir bohemian duo Nothofagus.

The Galiano Conservancy has raised more than two-thirds of the $4.1 million needed to buy land to create a “Restorative Learning Centre” on Galiano Island. However, 1.3 million is still needed by the Feb. 15th closing date in order to access these matching funds. Purchasing this property will allow the Conservancy to expand our popular day programs into multi-day adventures in nature for inner city youth from Vancouver and Victoria. At the same time we will protect 290 acres of BC’s endangered coastal ecosystem and 2 km of undeveloped waterfront. This is a unique program in a unique place just an hour away from Vancouver. Over 28,000 people have come to Galiano and participated in the Conservancy’s restoration-based outdoor education programs in the past 10 years, with their class, youth group, organization or family.
